Five Steps to Getting What You Want

There was a time when I believed that everything that I wanted was out of my reach. That I would have to work really really (really) hard to get it and even then I wouldn’t necessarily be able to obtain it.  I was taught that there is fierce competition in the world, there can only be one “winner” at everything, and if you’re not killing yourself in order to get something, you must not really want it that bad.  

So let’s just cut to the chase.  Living like that sucks.  Maybe you know exactly what I’m talking about.  Maybe you believe those things too.  Either way, I’m telling you there’s an easier way.  

And easier doesn’t mean you’re lazy.  Easier doesn’t mean you don’t want it as bad. And easier doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve it as much as the person who is selling their soul to get it.

What easier does mean is that you’re in alignment.  You’ve found your groove.  Your vibe.  Your mojo.  Your frequency.  And you’re finally able to rock out loud.  

But how do you get into that seemingly elusive flow?  It’s not as hard as you may think.  By doing a little “behind the scenes’ work first, you’ll be movin' and groovin’ to the beat of your very own personal drummer in the best way possible in no time.

Step 1: Know what you want. Get really good at listening to yourself (especially your instinctual reactions to things) so that you can identify what you most authentically want and don’t want. If you meditate, incorporate the mantra “I am open to receiving all that I desire and is meant for me” into your daily sessions.  If you exercise, trying repeating the same mantra while you workout.  Watch for signs and signals (there are no coincidences when the Universe is involved) that seem to be pointing you in one direction or another and know that your dreams are dreaming for you right back.  

Step 2: Tell yourself anything is possible.  Because it is.  The mere fact that you’re alive is proof. Remember that everything you use in your daily life today; your car, your computer, and your smartphone were just thoughts and ideas before they ever came to fruition.  Everything that you dream about today has the potential and possibility to come to life.   

Step 3: Believe it.  Tell yourself over and over if you have to but it’s better to try to feel it from the bottom up.  The more you can feel your dreams coming true and washing over you, the closer you bring yourself to them.  Try sitting for three minutes (set a timer if it helps) and feel the feelings you want to feel when you accomplish your goals (whatever they might be).  The more you can feel the exact emotions you desire to experience, the closer you bring yourself to your dreams becoming your current situation.    

Step 4: Go out and get it.  Action is key here.  You can sit and meditate in your room all day long but if you ain’t movin’, then the Universe can’t get to groovin’.  Get out there.  Every. Single.  Day.  Start small if you have to, but do one thing every day that brings is closer to your ultimate goal.   

Step 5: Don’t let anything get in your way.  I’m not kidding with this one.  What I’ve realized is that making your grandest dreams come true is a beautiful combination of HUGELY inspired action, FEELING your dreams as if they’re true already (I’ll let you in on a little secret - they are), and then staying true to that inspired action when bumps and hiccups get in the way.
