Confidence Makes Things Easy

Have you ever procrastinated on something?  I know I have.  Sometimes it’s because I don’t want to do the thing that I have to do (which is another story for another day) but most of the time it’s because I feel unsure of my ability to complete the task at hand.  I’m unsure of the actions to take and nervous about my abilities to successfully complete those actions even if I do know how to move forward.  So I dilly-dally.  I take my time.  I take lots of breaks.  And I make things WAY harder on myself than they need to be.

I do things like manually color code a spreadsheet in Google Sheets instead of using the “Alternating Colors” function which takes FOREVER (but it also keeps me from really moving forward because it slows me down so much).

When I’m feeling CONFIDENT in my abilities to do the things I have to (and want to) do, I use the Alternating Colors function (among other tools) to help me move forward because I feel good about what I’m doing and I feel ready for what comes AFTER the color coded spreadsheet (because that’s usually not the end goal of my tasks).
